News Update

SITP WEATHER FORECAST

Despite that it will be a cloudy day, there will only be a 10% chance of rain with a high 70’s to mid 60’s temperature range (perfect for dancing!!). However, as the night falls, there will be a 60% chance of rain; nevertheless, if it rains, we will take our salsa dancing inside to the air-conditioned auditorium.

IS THIS OUR LAST SALSA IN THE PARK?!

Thanks to your donations, purchases and overall support, we have been able to stay open all summer. Many of you have asked we can re-open after Labor Day, so we have (and will continue through Monday) to fundraise towards that goal together…we’ve set our goal at $2000. Proceeds from all purchases at SITP on Monday will help us reach it, and your support and donations will hopefully get us over the top. We will make an official announcement on Monday about if we reached our goal, and what is possible for September Mondays!

Want to Donate to make SITP September possible?  Click here!
(The above link will direct you to the BDA’s Fiscal Sponsorship page, from which you can select Metamovements-Salsa In The Park as the beneficiary. Monetary donations are tax-deductible. We also accept donations of goods and services.)

-THE OLIVE GARDEN SUPPORTS SITP!

Thanks to one of our favorite Salsa friends, Sergio Espinoza (who is also a manager at the local Olive Garden), SITP’s food offerings this week will include artichoke dip & bruchetta! Another exciting piece of news is that he is donating all proceeds to the September SITPs…which could be just what we need to put us over the top!  Thank you from all of us Sergio!

CLUB CARIBE

We have been having a wonderful time at Club Caribe this summer, with more students, more instructors and more dancers!  Join us for focused, inspired coaching at 7pm, Salsa Secrets or Latin Club Dances at 8pm, our popular club class at 9 pm, and party til 1am!

Hello Salsa-Lov…

Aside

SITPHello Salsa-Lovers,

RAIN OR SHINE:   It may be raining during the day, but it’s supposed to clear up by night, just in time for a cool and breezy Salsa in the Park!  But if it stays raining, we’ll move inside the building and have a great party in the air-conditioned auditorium 🙂  So, no matter what the sky looks like, join us at 50 W Brookline Street in the South End tonight!

HELP US SHOW THE MAYOR THE IMPORTANCE OF WHAT WE DO!!  The Boston Public Health Commission is joining us this Monday to make our first official connection to their Boston Moves for Health campaign. They are bringing pedometers to help us measure how many miles worth of steps we are dancing at SITP each week.  Based on a typical hour of partner-dancing (which yields about 5 miles worth of steps) and the hundreds of people we have at SITP each week, we could really help Boston dance its way to Mayor Menino’s goal:  Together Boston will move 10 million miles (walking, running, biking or dancing) and lose one million pounds. If you’d like to represent SITP by wearing a pedometer and being interviewed about SITP and salsa in general, please e-mail us at info@metamovements.com with your name.  We are thrilled to be a part of this initiative!

THIS WEEK’S ENTERTAINMENT:  We have three great performances lined up for you this week at SITP:  1)  The BostonRueda Performance Team,  2)  Iquilinos Boricuas en Acción (IBA)’s Youth Dance Team, and 3)  MetaMovements’ Youth Team, including choreography by last week’s guest instructor, Ramon Baynes, fresh off his tour with Janet Jackson.  We are also thrilled to announce our guest DJ D Martinez!

NEW TANK TOPS & T-SHIRTS:  The new shipment has arrived, including kid sizes!   Come check them out this week, and remember, your purchases are what makes SITP possible!

TUESDAY NIGHT CLASSES:  We’ve been having a great time teaching salsa, hip hop, horton and more on Tuesday nights at the Blackstone.  Join us this Tuesday or next, and learn something new!  Free for youth in the city of Boston.  For adults: $10/class or $50 for 6 classes.  http://metamovements.com/tuesdays/

WE SURPASSED OUR SUMMER FUNDRAISING GOAL!  Thanks to you, we have surpassed our summer fundraising goal, and we will stay open straight through to August 20th.  Many of you have asked if we can re-open after Labor Day, so we are now fundraising towards that goal together…we’ve set our goal at $2000.  Proceeds from all purchases at SITP over the next 3 weeks will get us started, and your support and donations will get us over the top. Thank you for all of your support!  http://www.bostondancealliance.org/donations/donate

(The above link will direct you to the BDA’s Fiscal Sponsorship page, from which you can select Metamovements-Salsa In The Park as the beneficiary. (Monetary donations are tax-deductible). We also accept donations of goods and services.)

See you at the Park!
